An article appeared in the March 21 Times Union entitled "There are Good Reasons to Oppose a Gay Rights Bill" by Sandor Balogh. This article was the strongest reason I have heard yet for supporting the legislation proposed by Nancy Burton to extend civil rights protection in housing and employment to gay men and lesbians.
This legislation is a piece of the larger fight for strengthening the legal protection available to groups that have historically suffered discrimination. Extending legal protection to homosexuals strengthens the city's commitment to correct the discrimination suffered by all members of oppressed groups.
